Outback Bowl Extends Contracts with SEC and Big Ten Through 2026 Game

Outback Bowl officials have extended their contracts with the Southeastern Conference and Big Ten Conference for six additional years beginning with the January 2021 game through the January 2026 Bowl game.

The 2020 Outback Bowl will kickoff at 1 P.M. on Jan. 1.

The agreements extend a current 24-year tradition of the two conferences squaring-off in the New Year’s Day Bowl. The new extension also provides for a chance to have a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference or Notre Dame in select years when a Big Ten team plays in the Orange Bowl during non-playoff games.

“The Outback Bowl has a long, rich tradition with the SEC and we are excited to continue this relationship with this outstanding post-season game,” said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. “The Tampa Bay area is a perfect bowl destination for our schools and their fans. We look forward to our six year extension.”

“We are very proud and happy to announce the extension of our relationship with the Big Ten and Southeastern Conference for six additional years after the upcoming game,” noted Outback Bowl President/CEO Jim McVay. “We look forward to continuing to host outstanding teams from the Southeastern Conference, Big Ten and ACC in our annual New Year’s Day game. In addition to great football from these conferences, the Tampa Bay area benefits tremendously from an economic impact standpoint and from the Outback Bowl Charitable Giving Initiative because of their presence.”

Special priority seating Membership packages can be purchased directly through the Outback Bowl office by calling (813) 874-BOWL.
