2018 Outback Bowl to Kickoff at Noon on New Year’s Day

TAMPA, Fla. – Outback Bowl officials confirmed today that their 2018 game, which hosts teams from the Big Ten Conference and Southeastern Conference, will be played on Monday, Jan. 1 at Raymond James Stadium.

The game will kick off at Noon on ESPN2. It will be the 30th consecutive year the Outback Bowl has played in the New Year’s Day bowl lineup. Only the Rose Bowl has a longer New Year’s Day tradition.

“We are extremely excited to be the first game to kick off the most tradition-rich day of college football – New Year’s Day,” notes Outback Bowl President/CEO Jim McVay. “The eyes of the college football world will be on the Outback Bowl and our wonderful Tampa Bay community.”

Priority membership seats are currently available through the Outback Bowl office at (813) 874-BOWL with details on the bowl web site at www.outbackbowl.com. All other general tickets will go on sale to the public in late August through Ticketmaster.

The Outback Bowl attracts tens-of-thousands of out of market visitors each year from more than forty states who join local fans in generating an economic impact estimated at $1 billion on the Tampa Bay area over its history. The game also generates tens-of-millions of dollars in exposure for the region each year and has contributed more than $136 million to universities over its history.
